If the location is all in real estate, 6105 Mulholland Highway may just take the crown home.
Located on the Beachwood Canyon mountain and it was just below the strong white letters that love “Hollywood”, this A-Frame chalet is not close to the famous sign, it is the closest residence to him, he has learned the stick.
Listed for $ 2.25 million with Christopher Soffer and Trenton Armitage of the Beverly Hills States, The Midcentury Hideaway offers something that few properties can: First -ranked views of the cultural milestone that has defined Los Angeles for a century.
“It is extremely limited,” Soffer said in The Post. “Being the house closest to the world’s Hollywood sign is as limited as it is.”
Built in 1963 and located at the end of a private road, the three bedroom house, 2,500 square feet will be the first time to reach the market in almost 40 years.
“It is put on the trees, almost like a tree house,” said Soffer. “You have that sense when you are there that you really feel that you are rooted in this lifestyle and in this period of time that seems to have faded with the modern age.”
Chalet is a rarity in both style and configuration. Its design of the frame A, which is unusual in Los Angeles, is covered with wood inside and outside, creating a cabin atmosphere in the wood in the middle of one of the most iconic neighborhoods in the city.
“There are tons and tons of wood,” said Soffer. “You also feel like you are in a cabin in the woods, which is beautiful because the whole A is essentially made of wood.”
The current home owners, the Digital Pioneer of Jeffrey Kleiser effects and the sculptor Diana Walczak, have used the space as a residence and creative incubator.
Walczak, better known for sculpting the statue of Michael Jackson’s story and designing his digital version for the album’s cover, and Kleiser, whose credits cover “throne” in “X-Men”, consolidate their portfolio of property, according to Soffer.
“They loved them absolutely living, and they are creative themselves,” said Soffer. “They have actually recorded in this house, numerous bands over the years.”
One of the most famous is the association, the sixty band behind hits such as “Cherish” and “Windy”. His connection with the property won a cameo in the photo book by Linda McCartney, “the sixties.”
The creative legacy of the house does not stop for music and has calmly played artists, sculptors and filmmakers over the decades.
“This place attracts a very interesting crowd and has a very interesting creative energy,” said Soffer.
Although it is included in the hills, the property is not without modern acclaims. It has been presented to “Staycation”, Emmy’s winning travel program, and was recognized by Travel + Leisure as one of the best Airbnbs in California.
Owners even produce “Hollywood Honey” in the locals, courtesy of a small mountain celery tended by a local beekeeper.
House positioning in the ridge produces double views: the Hollywood sign at its back and broad views of the center of the, Griffith Park and, on clear days, the Pacific Ocean on its forehead.
“When you are building in such a place, the Hollywood sign is as direct as it is,” said Soffer. “When you are sitting at any of the roof covers, all you can see is the Hollywood sign … and the front of the house, you have these panoramic views of the city.”
The card also marks a look at the surrounding roots.
“Originally, Beachwood Canyon was built by a single sun and had done so because he wanted to create a perfect neighborhood for Hollywood production and the study,” said Soffer. “When they built the Hollywood sign for the first time, it was almost like an advertisement for the neighborhood.”
At that moment, the sign was illuminated until night: a touch of glamor that has since disappeared.
“They usually had lights in the Hollywood sign, you believe -or not,” said Soffer. “I would like to see -today, but I think it can be a little too bright for the current landscape of the neighborhood.”
Despite its proximity to a tourist magnet, the property offers peace and privacy.
“They said that everyone is so in love with the sign, everyone has a good mood when they are there,” Soffer said about the owners. “Over the years they have had no problem with breakdown, neither abuse nor anything like that.”
There is also no risk of competition: “To the right of the property, if you face the property, there is only another batch that can be developed,” said Soffer. “From now on, there is nothing. It’s just a raw land. And beyond that, it’s pure desert.”
It is the mixture of exclusivity, architectural significance and Hollywood history that Soffer thinks that the house is unique.
“The architectural community estimates these types of houses: frames houses,” he said. “They are not typical for Los Angeles and, when they appear, is something that you must like.”
